Hey y’all, Jen here! I’m eager to share a bit more about our partnership with Bloom Family Designs, a non-profit with a mission to celebrate adoptive and foster care families by creating cost free bedrooms for children being welcomed into their new homes. When I came across Bloom Family Designs for the first time on Instagram, it was clear their mission aligned perfectly with my own personal passion and goals for IJD. While friends and clients know me as a mother of four, many aren’t aware I had long dreamed of growing my family through adoption. Now as a mother of his, mine and ours, life’s path changed but the foster and adoptive community remains dear to my heart.
After connecting with the organization’s founder, I learned of their Designer Partnership Program, an initiative that connects creatives with the design needs of their local community. As an established partner in the program, IJD will now support Bloom Family Designs with services to design, source and install beautiful, welcoming spaces for families in the Chicago area and beyond.
We were introduced to the Malone family last fall, who live about an hour north of Chicago, just after they finalized the adoption of their daughters. The pair of sisters who spent six years in foster care would be welcomed into their forever family in just six weeks, and sponsor Jockey Being Family stepped in to make the Malone sisters’ homecoming even more special.
Together with a team of other volunteers, we painted, installed furniture and added the finishing touches in a matter of three days. The joyful, floral decor transformed the previously dark bedroom into a place as bright as the girls’ future.
This work is our way of loving on the children of this community, showing them they are worthy and seen. If creating beautiful spaces conveys this message for years to come, I am honored IJD can serve them in that way.
We are in the planning stages of another room transformation with the support of Jockey Being Family and can’t wait to share more soon. For those interested in donating to Bloom Family Designs or volunteering in your hometown, visit bloomfamilydesigns.com.
Bloom Family Designs celebrates adoptive and foster care families by creating cost free bedrooms for children being welcomed into their new homes. In an effort to alleviate common emotional, physical and financial stressors, Bloom gifts each family a uniquely designed, decorated and furnished child’s room at no financial cost to the family. Bloom’s hope is that their services will help each adoptive/foster family have more means and time to prepare for what truly matters - creating a home full of hope, love and security for each child.
